The Bobo Philosophy

Learn to ski with Sturm ski school

Welcome to the BOBO KIDS’ CLUB (BOBO KINDER-CLUB), the ski school for children and young people from 3 years. It’s all about BOBO the penguin, who’s not just our mascot, he’s a good friend to have on the slopes too. BOBO the penguin supports the ski instructors in their work on the snow and presents the success factor in the contact between children, instructors and parents. The BOBO kids’ clubs in Austria work with approx. 150,000 children every year.

The KIDS’ CLUB was established to provide our smaller guests with a special programme to achieve the perfect skiing technique and also to promote a child-friendly atmosphere when it comes to lessons on the slopes.

As well as a sophisticated teaching concept, based on a 4-part radio play which follows the Alpine adventures of BOBO the penguin and his friends, there are aids and lesson materials which have been developed according to the following principles:

MOTIVATION
CHILD PSYCHOLOGY
SAFETY
PEDAGOGICAL LEARNING METHODS
CHILD RECOGNITION

In order to implement all of these ideas, the KIDS’ CLUB partners regularly take part in training courses which cover the philosophy and the idea behind this concept, as well as practical tips for supervising children. The connection between the lesson content and the story of BOBO takes centre stage.
Why a penguin? And why is he called BOBO? And how did a penguin come to be in the mountains, learning to ski?

The concept, developed together with pedagogues, was not merely created for children, the final decision was taken with their support. Five different characters were suggested (bear, marmot, kangaroo, rabbit and penguin) and given to children in a kindergarten to play with for a month. The penguin was the clear favourite and was given the name BOBO by one of the children. This result was then the basis for comprehensive development of the system.

1. The KIDS’ CLUB Philosophy

The winter landscape is the most beautiful playground nature could provide for your children.
All credit goes to the children for everything they learn during the course. We can help by providing examples and revealing a few secrets.
Children learn from other children and act as teachers for other children. The power of a scurrying bunch of little rascals is something quite special.
The children's contentment is the most important proof of our success. It’s a wonderful feeling to push the boundaries of your capabilities. Each person decides where these boundaries lie.
The biggest display of trust from parents is when they allow you to supervise their children. But trust also means letting go. Children want to learn and surprise you with what they can do.

2. BOBO

At the KIDS’ CLUB, every child makes a new friend straight away. It’s BOBO, the penguin, our much-loved mascot. BOBO stands for creativity, child psychology and plenty of fun – a true pal in your winter wonderland. From warming up with the BOBO boogie to the Penguin prizegiving at the end – BOBO is always there. And if your children suddenly start speaking Penguin Flipper Language , blame BOBO.

3. KIDS’ CLUB ski instructors

BOBO’s KIDS’ CLUB is there for your children. Here, ski instructor is simply a collective term for your children’s new sports friends who are specially trained in working with children. Social skills instead of alleged pedagogical experts. Your children will learn to ski by means of a curriculum from the ski instructor association, based on elements of the latest findings in sports medicine.

4. The KIDS’ CLUB area

KIDS’ CLUB ski schools operate according to the latest safety standards. Special training for our staff and the child-friendly design of the site guarantee a high degree of hazard control. With name badges, stretch jerseys, uniform and icon boards, it’s easy to find your way. It’s hard to overlook a KIDS’ CLUB®.
Technical equipment and materials are up to date. But we don’t select by brands or what’s in fashion. Sports equipment are aids and should serve to help your children.
